Happy Birthday Video eCard Greeting Intro

Birthdays are probably the most celebrated occasions of the year, every year, all over the world.
Then there are landmark birthdays such as the 16th, 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 65th, 70th, 80th, 90th and 100th birthdays which people often celebrate in an extra special way.
I wanted to send my niece Maxine, a unique 40th Birthday Video eCard so I immediately started thinking about Funny Happy Birthday Video Greetings and how I could make one.
In order to create a unique happy birthday video ecard that was not available anywhere else I would need to use material not available anywhere else.
I decided to use my own material as this was unique to me and my niece.
The tool I decided to use to create my unique video ecard was the Animoto Video Slideshow Maker.

Example Of A Happy Birthday Video eCard Greeting
Here is what I came up with in the video slideshow entitled Happy Birthday Video eCard Greeting! Make Your Own Video Slideshow Happy 40th Birthday eCard Message below. I didn’t have many photos of my niece so the video slideshow is fairly short at about 2 minutes 5 seconds:

Making The Happy Birthday Video eCard Greeting
As I said, Happy Birthday Video eCard Greeting! Make Your Own Video Slideshow Happy 40th Birthday eCard Message is quite short as I did not have many photos or video clips of my niece. This left me a little limited in what I could achieve. However, after a little thought I decided to use a few photos of my niece when she was a youngster; use some of the stock images and video clips from Animoto; and also create a few funny home made video clips of myself talking.
The video clips of me talking were created using the webcam connected to my computer. However, to add a little fun I was disguised by a “Lion Video Mask”. A video mask is an image that follows your facial movements but shows your mouth and eyes within the mask. I chose a lion as my name is Richard and I could then call myself “Richard The Lionheart”.
Before making the video slideshow I planned what I was going to create as follows:
- Firstly, I collected together the few photos I had of Maxine to see what material was usable. Most of the photos were from her younger days when I took her out on day trips with her sister;
- Next, I selected two photos, an interesting one of her with her arm inside the mouth of a dinosaur; and one photo of the two of us together;
- Then I made some video clips of me talking with the “Lion Video Mask” saying the following:
- Boo! Arrrrrrrr! (like a lion)
- Happy birthday!
- Guess Who?
- It’s “Richard The Lionheart” ha ha ha!
- Ciao for now!
- I then thought about how I could include these photos and video clips within the overall video slideshow. I chose to merge my material with other material from the Animoto Image Library and the Animoto Video Clip Library. The Animoto material I selected was:
- A video clip of fireworks which I used at the start and end of the video slideshow;
- An image of a happy birthday postage stamp;
- An image of a cake with candles and balloons, etc;
- A video clip of a lady offering a gift box to the viewer;
- A video clip of hands with champagne glasses in them celebrating;
- I also decided to add some personal messages related to each of the images and video clips chosen from the Animoto libraries and my own photos:
- Where’s the party? – Place before the cake and candles image;
- Hope you get plenty of these! – Place before the gift box video clip;
- Happy 40th Birthday! Do you feel like a dinosaur? – Place before the image of Maxine with her arm in the mouth of a dinosaur, and is also a reference to her getting older;
- Here’s another snap! Hope it’s a happy memory! – Place before the image of the two of us together when we were younger;
- Happy 40th Birthday from Uncle Richard and Anne;
- Cheers! – Place before the video clip of the hands with champagne glasses;
Once I had finished planning my unique 40th Birthday video slideshow, I started to make it using the Animoto Video Slideshow Maker online service:
- I organized and numbered my material on my computer;
- Then I designed my video slideshow:
- I chose the “Pandora’s Gift Box” Animoto template style for the video slideshow (I could change it later if I wanted to);
- Then uploaded the photos and video clips to the online Animoto system;
- I included the additional images and video clips from the Animoto Libraries;
- Then I placed my text boxes and typed in my unique text messages;
- To finish, I selected a funky birthday related music track (It’s Your Birthday by Nina Storey) from the Animoto Music Library; set the image pacing of the video slideshow to normal; entered a title and description for the video slideshow; then clicked “Create Video” to produce the video slideshow;
And there you have it, after a few minutes Animoto generated me a truly original Happy Birthday Video eCard Greeting! Make Your Own Video Slideshow Happy 40th Birthday eCard Message and it was ready to send to my niece via email.
I actually sent the video slideshow to Maxine at a later date on her actual birthday by email using the Animoto share facility. Animoto sends an email in a nice format with a link to the video slideshow on the Animoto website.
You can even get a confirmation email when the recipient has viewed the video slideshow.
